James Badge Dale goes to 'WWZ'

"The Pacific" star James Badge Dale is going back into battle, albeit against an already-dead enemy.
Dale is in negotiations to join Brad Pitt in Paramount's "World War Z," set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic. Paramount had no comment on the casting.

Marc Forster is directing from J. Michael Straczynski and Matthew Carnahan's script, which is adapted from Max Brooks' popular novel, told in oral history form from various perspectives around the world.

Pitt will play a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission, while Mireille Enos of AMC's "The Killing" was previously cast as his wife, a mother of two girls.

Dale will play Capt. Speke, an American soldier who trusts his instincts and is wise beyond his years. The character tries to alert authorities that the zombie threat is real, and is stuck in a military detention center when the zombie outbreak begins.

Pitt and his Plan B shingle are producing the big-budget pic, which will be co-financed by David Ellison's Skydance Prods. Production is slated to begin this July in London, Malta and other locales overseas.

Brad arrived in Malta.
Labelled the sexiest stars in film history and attracting major global media attention, the couple who are accompanied by their six adopted and biological children, left Los Angeles yesterday evening in a Bombardier Global Express jet.

They arrived in Malta this afternoon and exited Malta International Airport in a couple of vans from the VIP area.

Brad Pitt was last in Malta in 2003 for the filming of the ancient epic Troy in which he played the mightiest of the Greeks, Achilles. This time round, he is a United Nations worker and father of two girls.

Brad Pitt is in Malta for the filming of World War Z, a movie he is producing.

Based on Max Brooks' globe-spanning novel, World War Z is set 10 years after the human victory over a worldwide zombie epidemic and tells a retrospective story about the invasion from the various viewpoints of those who survived the conflict that almost eradicated humanity.

Among the locations for the Malta shoot – the rest of the filming is in the UK – are Valletta and the Three Cities area.

HOLLYWOOD superstar Brad Pitt is heading for Scotland to film a new £80million zombie movie, we can reveal today.

The big screen heart-throb will fly in after producers transform parts of Glasgow into a war-torn ruin for blockbuster World War Z. The movie will be one of the biggest film shoots ever seen in Scotland.

Scenes being shot in the city centre will feature explosions and gunfire as Brad, 47, battles to stop zombies taking over the world.

Glasgow will double for the US city of Philadelphia, with false shop fronts being constructed and American cars on the roads.

Streets around George Square will be closed in August as shooting begins and the square itself will be the base for the film crew and actors.

Producers plan to erect a tented village, complete with huge trailers for Brad and his co-stars.

Sources say he will spend two weeks shooting in Glasgow

An insider said: "The whole thing has been shrouded in secrecy but it had to come out at some point.

"The film is a big thing for Glasgow and the whole of Scotland. It will provide a big boost to the economy.

"The good news is that Brad will be right at the centre of the action... and there will be plenty of action.

"It should be pretty spectacular and, as it is happening in August, we can at least hope there won't be too many weather delays."

The Casting Collective have been advertising for zombie extras in Glasgow but hopefuls did not realise the scale of the movie they were auditioning for.

It is believed World War Z could be worth more than £1.5million to the Scottish economy.

The movie is being produced by Brad's Plan B Entertainment production company for Paramount Pictures.

They won the rights after a fierce bidding war with Leonardo Di Caprio's production company Appian Way. Brad also takes lead acting duties on the film, based on Max Brooks' horror novel.

Scripts based on a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski have already leaked on the internet leading to speculation that the film will be in the running for a Best Picture Oscar.

The action takes place in the aftermath of a huge zombie uprising which leads to a world war.

Most of the action will be shot in the streets surrounding George Square, chosen because of their likeness to Philadelphia.

According to industry rumours, some of the action will also be shot in Malta and at London's Pinewood studios.

Another source said: "There has been an international scouting operation looking for streets which resemble American city centres.

"They are looking at places like St Vincent Street, which will be closed off when filming takes place.

"The cast and crew will be based in George Square and they are planning to build a tented village there."

The Casting Collective, who are behind the zombie search, last night said they were unable to comment on the movie.

Brad Pitt to blow up a Maltese bus during World War Z filming

Heartthrob Brad Pitt wants to blow up a Maltese bus as part of the filming of World War Z, sources told www.di-ve.com.
Pitt arrived in Malta a week ago to scout for locations. Currently the crew is filming at Zammit Clapp Hospital.

Based on novel by Max Brooks, World War Z is about the human victory over a worldwide zombie epidemic.

Exploding bus scenes have been a very common feature in recently produced thrillers, with the long list including blockbusters like Speed, Iron Man, the Fugitive and Transformers, amongst others.

It will not be difficult for Pitt to find a typical Maltese bus given that the government will soon have around 150 old buses in hand following the July 3rd public transport hand over to Arriva.
